TBNG Starts Drilling of New Natural Gas Wells in Tekirdağ and SilivriTurkey’s largest private natural gas production company,

TBNG (Thrace Basin Natural Gas Company), which delivers 250 thousand cubic meters of natural gas per day to industrial companies through its own pipeline through its natural gas exploration and production activities in Tekirdağ, is starting its work to open 5 new drilling wells.

Turkey’s largest private sector natural gas exploration and production company TBNG (Thrace Basin Natural Gas Company) will increase its monthly production by 25 percent by starting drilling in 5 new wells in Tekirdağ and Silivri.
TBNG, which was established in 1983 to engage in natural gas and oil exploration activities and carried out exploration and production activities in the Thrace region, has produced a total of 3.5 billion cubic meters as the largest private natural gas producer for the last 40 years.

TBNG, which has extracted 250 thousand cubic meters of natural gas per day from a total of 85 wells in Tekirdağ and Silivri with an investment of 19.4 million dollars in the last three years, plans to invest another 10 million dollars this year in order to contribute to Turkey’s energy supply security.

“We Will Make More National Gas Available with New Wells”

Evaluating the new drilling activities, TBNG CEO Sinan Furat stated that Turkey has underground resources rich in hydrocarbons and that these resources should be extracted from the underground and brought into consumption.

Sinan Furat stated the following: “As a result of research, we know that our country, which has been a bridge between the east and the west for centuries, is rich in underground resources.

In order to put this wealth to use, we have been working in the fields of drilling and production for 40 years. We are proud to contribute to energy supply security in line with our activities and to have a share in reducing energy imports with our new drilling works.
“New wells mean making our national natural gas available, increasing the capacity in this area and finding new reserves in different points of Thrace.”

“Decision Authorities Should Resolve the Issue of Extension of License Periods”

TBNG CEO Sinan Furat underlined that they will continue their efforts to minimize Turkey’s foreign dependency on energy; “We will continue to deliver the gas we brought to the surface as a result of the exploration to our customers,
but at this point, we expect the decision makers to quickly resolve both the extension of the existing license periods and the new license requests in terms of their benefits for our country,” he said.
